The Wallis and Writers Bloc present literary sensation Anthony Doerr.

Anthony Doerr weaves improbably connected worlds together as he considers innocence and guilt, kindness and guile. In his recent book, Cloud Cuckooland, named as a Best Book of the Year by many critics, Doerr takes us to the near future from the past and the present, with unforgettable characters.

Shooting off to the past and into the very near future, he makes our  present dilemmas all the more urgent. Doerr explores our most profound weaknesses and vulnerabilities–while also highlighting our greatest qualities and real potential for individual heroism. Humanity, he shows us, can prevail, thanks to our common goodness, notwithstanding the nightmares around us. He uplifts us even as he reminds us of what we’re capable of doing, for better or for worse.

Doerr’s books, the sensational international bestseller, All the Light We Cannot See, and Cloud Cuckooland, are considered to be among the great achievements in American literature in the past many decades.
