Author and journalist Bari Weiss, who grew up at the Tree of Life, argues that the Tree of Life massacre was a catastrophic act waiting to happen, based on watching the incremental rise of anti-Semitic rhetoric and violence here and abroad. Amid the rise of nationalism and isolationism in Europe and at home, anti-Semitic rhetoric manifests itself in social media, and anti-Semitic violence hits synagogues, shops and public gathering places.
In her new book, How to Fight Anti-Semitism, Bari Weiss explores the ancient and continual cycle of hatred toward Jews, and how we must be vigilant about its dangers, and how we must address it politically and in the media–mainstream, fringe and in-between.
Bari Weiss is an editor and writer for the New York Times Opinion Section, was an op-ed editor at the Wall Street Journal, and served as senior editor at Tablet magazine.
