What happened to the Supreme Court, we ask. While it might feel like the Court took a sudden jolt to the right, it’s been a long time coming, reports journalist and commentator Alex Wagner.
In her new book, The Steal: Four Right-Wing Hard-Liners, One Republican Presidency, and the Raid on America’s Courts, MS NOW reporter and Crooked Media host Alex Wagner traces the Court’s shift to the right as a strategic move by Ronald Reagan, whose aides understood that packing the federal judiciary with like-minded judges would leave the most momentous and lasting imprint on Reagan’s presidential legacy.
Alex Wagner, a former senior editor at The Atlantic, now host of the immensely popular podcast Runaway Country on Crooked Media, and creator of the terrific How the Hell Substack, tells a riveting story of strategic plotting by a corporate titan and three hard-line Reagan advisors who laid the groundwork not only for the now influential Federalist Society, but for the Supreme Court itself. Alex Wagner knows how to tell a story.
In conversation with the incomparable Jon Lovett, one of the original creators of Pod Save America and Crooked Media. He hosts Lovett or Leave It as well as Pod Save America. Before creating Crooked Media, he worked as a speechwriter in the Obama White House, as well as for John Kerry and Hilary Clinton. In his spare time, he’s a comedian.
