Elmore Leonard was one of our favorite writers for a thousand different reasons: the dialog is pitch perfect, the characters are unforgettable, and the action is preposterous, sometimes hilarious, and always astounding. The movies that sprung from his novels were sometimes good, sometimes great, and sometimes less so. The television series, Justified, which bloomed from his short story, “Fire in the Hole,” is simply one of the best shows on television.

Elmore Leonard wrote 45 novels. The story lines are as diverse as the characters, as surprising as the plot twists. The reader waits for the inevitable twist, which of course happens when we least expect it. When we read an Elmore Leonard novel, we are in the hands of a master.

Writers Bloc presents a tribute to our late great friend, Elmore Leonard. If you thought his books were fun to read, imagine how delightful it is to hear actors from Justified and some of those movies read from his work. Justified’s Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins (Raylin Givens and Boyd Crowder, respectively) , and Graham Yost, creator of Justified, read from and talk about the story that got the series off the ground; Peter Leonard represents his father, and other actors read from his work.

More participants will be announced shortly.
